CES 2006, Las Vegas, January 4, 2006 – Slim is definitely in, especially when it comes to consumer electronics. Televisions, mobile phones and digital music players seem to get slimmer by the day. Digital cameras are no exception with many manufacturers now offering ultra-slim models.
Fujifilm stood out in the ultra-slim camera race last year with its popular FinePix Z1 and it continues to lead the way with today’s announcement of the FinePix F470. No bigger than a deck of playing cards, the FinePix F470 carries a six MegaPixel CCD sensor along with a new digital signal processor. This CCD and processor combination ensures that pictures taken with the FinePix F470 are colorful, clear and crisp. A 3x optical zoom lens from world-renowned lens manufacturer, Fujinon, brings the user closer to the subject.
Picture-taking environments can vary depending on many factors, such as lighting, location, etc., and changes in a camera’s settings are often necessary to produce the most eye-pleasing picture. The FinePix F470 makes the selection of these settings a snap by offering a helpful set of 10 scene modes that provide the correct setting for picture success. These scene modes include the familiar “Portrait”, “Sport”, “Landscape” and “Night” settings, as well as more defined settings such as “Beach and Snow”, “Sunset”, “Museum”, “Party”, “Flower Close-Up” and “Text” along with a manual mode.
The FinePix F470’s 2.5-inch LCD won’t leave the user in the dark. It has a manual gain-up control that senses a low-light setting and brightens to compensate. This feature, which the user also can control manually, is a big boon to the photographer when shooting in restaurants and other dimly lit environments.
Another helpful feature of the FinePix F470 is 16MB’s worth of internal memory. Most digital photographers have come to the “miss it or delete it” crossroad. This is the moment when a photographer must choose between missing a photo opportunity because the media card is full and forever deleting a picture to make room for a new one. Not an easy decision, and one the photographer often has to make in a split seconds’ time. The FinePix F470 eliminates this decision altogether by having available storage space on board for extra security.
Priced at $279, Fujfilm’s FinePix F470 digital camera will be available for purchase March 2006.
