Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today introduced the latest e-filing and organizing software application designed for use with the Fujitsu ScanSnap™ scanning solution. Rack2-Filer™, supported by all PC-compatible Fujitsu ScanSnap scanners, allows users to convert scanned documents and digital data into portable document format (PDF) files and input them into e-files and digital binders to create a virtual library for the scanned document on their PCs.
Rack2-Filer, designed by PFU Limited of Japan, is efficient, organized, easy to use and easy to learn. After users digitize their documents with the Fujitsu ScanSnap to create their virtual library (up to 2,520,000 digital pages in 2,520 virtual binders), they can arrange them into virtual binders and cabinets for easy access and viewing. Users can easily edit meeting material and digital data, create original scrapbooks, convert manuals and instructions into e-books, and create “flip-through” customer presentations.
In the virtual library, bookshelf cabinets are displayed on the PC where users can organize, name, title and date binders. Simply click a binder to open and display documents as they would appear in paper form, except now they are electronic. Additional features within the virtual library include:
- e-Cabinets: Create six rows of e-cabinets and manage by category
- e-Binders: Create, edit, and sort binders. Set attributes and confirm location, page size, access times. Search all with simple screen clicks
- Organize: Move, paste, insert notes, highlight, insert page tabs, sort with thumbnail feature, output data to e-mail or printer
- View: One-page or two-page viewing, document rotation, enlarge portions of a single page
“The ScanSnap was designed with simplicity and creativity in mind and that’s exactly what Fujitsu looks for when providing software applications for the scanner," said Victor Kan, vice president of sales and marketing, Imaging Products Group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “Rack2-Filer has the ability to digitally archive over 2.5 million digital pages in over 2,500 digital binders. We think our ScanSnap customers will see great value in its feature set and can’t wait to hear the feedback as we continue to provide these value added applications to an already successful product."
The Rack2-Filer is priced at $249.00 and is available now via Fujitsu authorized resellers, including:

The ScanSnap Scanning Solution
Since the Fujitsu ScanSnap scanning solution was introduced in 2003, thousands of small- to medium-sized offices and business professionals have embraced high-end document management capabilities, brought to them at an affordable price. The Fujitsu ScanSnap is a high-speed, double-sided color scanner priced under $500; a price point Fujitsu made feasible by leveraging the features and functionalities found in its more expensive document scanners.
The ScanSnap scanner’s “always on” convenience, connectivity, and amazingly small footprint allow it to sit comfortably on any desk. The ScanSnap reinvented the “one-button” scanning approach, which eliminates elaborate scanning applications and the need for cumbersome driver interfaces. Its appeal for business professionals is based on its ability to provide a simple, fast, easy to use method for converting information contained on paper into digital PDF files at the touch of a button. The resulting files can then be stored in the Windows operating system on a local PC or network allowing the user to store, organize, share, protect, print, search and interact with it as they would with any other electronic file.
