Today at the 2007 International CES, ArcSoft, Inc. released a free Windows plug-in for viewing RAW image thumbnails. By installing the ArcSoft RAW Thumbnail Viewer plug-in, users can see thumbnails of most RAW photo formats right within the "Thumbnails" view of Windows Explorer -- instead of the generic icon that Windows displays by default.
"This is a great tool for anyone working with RAW photos," said Michael Downs, ArcSoft Vice President of Marketing and Business Development. "With the new ArcSoft RAW Thumbnail Viewer, users can browse and manage their most important images without having to launch special software."
Although the plug-in was designed to complement ArcSoft PhotoStudio Darkroom, a software application for non-destructive image processing of RAW, JPEG, and TIFF image files, photo editing software is not a requirement. Anyone looking for a more convenient way to browse and organize RAW format images can use the plug-in.
File Formats Supported by ArcSoft RAW Thumbnail Viewer:
- Adobe (DNG)
- Canon
- Hasselblad
- Kodak
- Leica
- Mamiya
- Nikon
- Olympus
- Pentax
- Ricoh
- Samsung
