To participate, go to the Dell/Futuremark Performance Shootout web page, and sign up.
As far as DigitalDingus knows, the rules are rather loose. Just use 3DMark 2006 Free Version (or the pro version if you already purchased it). Any video card combination can be used as long as 3DMark 2006 recognizes it and logs it into the Performance Shootout database. So far, a good combination seems to be an nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX and an Intel E6700 Dual-Core processor, along with a motherboard which has respectable overclocking capabilities as well as the memory.
