High quality, ease of use and stylish design continue to be the cornerstones of the Canon PIXMA Photo Printer line-up, and the newest entries deliver on that strong reputation. The new PIXMA iP3300 and PIXMA iP1800 Photo Printers offer high-end features and new stylish designs while at an estimated selling price of $79.99 and $49.99 (1), respectively. These prices put these printers into the very important value category while their sleek new designs set them head and shoulders above the competition.
"Consumers want to get the most for their money and we are introducing the iP3300 and iP1800 printers for just that reason, to deliver a high level of photo print quality at an affordable price," said Yuichi Ishizuka, senior vice president and general manager of the Consumer Imaging Group at Canon U.S.A., Inc. "These printers combine Canon's ability to produce high-quality photos and documents, with a new stylish design, that together make for a winning combination for the consumer."
Both printers feature Canon FINE (Full-Photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) print head technology. Delivering microscopic ink droplets as small as 2 picoliters, at up to 4800x1200 dpi color resolution (2), it is obvious that these printers do not sacrifice quality for their value price points.
The PIXMA iP3300 Photo Printer
Featuring a clean, elegant, yet modern design, the PIXMA iP3300 Photo Printer offers consumers a stylish addition to the home, and a functional device to print photos, documents and more. The iP3300 Photo Printer utilizes Canon's individual ink tank system and FINE print head technology that enables ink droplets to fire as small as 2 picoliters while delivering fast, borderless, photo lab quality photos up to 8.5 x 11 - inch. This printer offers consumers high-end functionality at a value price point, such as selectable dual paper paths, and a PictBridge port for printing from select digital cameras and camcorders. The iP3300 Photo Printer has received the Certified for Windows Vista logo, indicating that it has met Microsoft's rigorous new standards for performance and functionality with Windows Vista.
The PIXMA iP1800 Photo Printer
With an attractive design and a price point to match, the sweeping lines and glossy black finish of this desktop dynamo are a welcome departure from the boring beige box typically found in the value class of printer products. Canon brings high-end features into this category with blazing speeds and microscopic ink droplets being placed as small as 2 picoliters. The PIXMA iP1800 Photo Printer can deliver photo-lab quality borderless 4x6 - inch photos in approximately 70 seconds. (3) Unlike some leading competitors, the iP1800 Photo Printer will be a $49 printer capable of printing borderless photos from wallet size straight through letter size without purchasing any optional accessories. As an attractive addition to the home office or a student's desktop, printing from 1,472 nozzles helps to ensure speedy printing of documents, presentations and web pages at up to 20 pages/minute (ppm) for monochrome, and up to 16 ppm for color. (3)
With only two FINE ink cartridges for consumers to concern themselves with, ink management is fast and easy. Included with the iP1800 Photo Printer is a pigment-based black ink cartridge, allowing for improved text printing without relying on a composite black, plus increased highlighter stability on plain paper.
To help meet the demands of any family printing at home, Canon is introducing a new line of ink cartridges to be used with the PIXMA iP1800 Photo Printer. The new PG-30 (pigment black ink cartridge) and CL-31 (tri-color ink cartridge) will offer consumers a new low cost option when purchasing ink. The new PG-30 and CL-31 ink cartridges will retail for an estimated selling price of $15.99 and $19.99 respectively. (1)
The iP1800 has received the Certified for Windows Vista logo, indicating that it has met Microsoft's rigorous new standards for performance and functionality with Windows Vista.
ChromaLife100 System
The PIXMA iP3300 and iP1800 Photo Printers use the Canon ChromaLife100 system to produce prints on select genuine Canon photo papers that resist fading for up to 100 years (4) when stored in an archival quality photo album. The 100-year-lifespan rivals that of many traditional film based photos, long considered by consumers to be the benchmark for image permanence.
Unlike some competitors that only test for ozone degradation, Canon has tested the ChromaLife100 system against three types of gases to simulate realistic conditions - ozone, nitrogen oxide and sulfur oxide. Prints produced on Canon Photo Paper Pro with the other elements of the ChromaLife100 system had an up to ten-year gas fastness4 when exposed to open air. ChromaLife100 prints also had up to 30-year light fastness4 when displayed under glass.
Compatible with Windows Vista
The newest Canon PIXMA printers address different styles and needs, and are now compatible with most computer operating systems, including Windows Vista. As a Premier Launch Partner of the Windows Vista operating system, Canon ensured that the latest Canon PIXMA photo printers work directly in tandem with Microsoft's operating system, without any extra downloads or upgrades. Both printers still offer full compatibility with other operating systems. The iP3300 Photo Printer will also be compatible with such as Windows 98/Me/2000/XP, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 98 and Mac OSX v10.2.8, while the iP1800 Photo Printer will function with Windows 2000/XP and Mac OSX v10.2.8 operating systems.

Specifications subject to change without notice.
1 - Pricing subject to change at any time. Actual prices are determined by individual dealers and may vary.
2 - Resolution may vary based on printer driver setting. Color ink droplets can be placed with a horizontal pitch of 1/4800 inch at minimum.
3 - PPM print speeds are based on the highest speed printer drivers mode using black and white and color text patterns. Photo print speeds are based on the standard mode driver setting using photo test pattern(s) and select Canon Photo Paper. Print speed is measured as first page begins to feed into printer, and will vary depending on system configuration, interface, software, document complexity, print mode, types of paper used and page coverage. See www.usa.canon.com/printspeed for more information.
4 - Results based on accelerated testing by Canon under controlled temperature, humidity, and gas conditions. For the 100-year figure, Canon simulated storage in an album with plastic sleeves. For the 30-year lightfastness figure, Canon simulated display of a photo in a glass frame in an indoor location without direct sunlight or other high intensity light. The 10-year gastfastness figure is based on a testing ratio of gases typical to indoor air composition (O3: NOx:SOx--3:19:1) with 100 times concentration in order to accelerate color fading. Canon cannot guarantee the longevity of prints; results may vary depending on printed image, drying time, display/storage conditions and environmental factors.
