The 1300U2 does have more stylish features which give it a nice touch. Let's take a closer look at the 1300U2 close-up.
1300U2 (Front & Back)
The front of the 1300U2 is a standard look to the MO line. The little hole on your left is for the rare situation where the disk is just not ejecting. Simply use a paperclip or something similar which will fit in the hole. The upper right is your MO status indicator. When the drive is receiving power and working properly, a neon blue light will remain on, and then will flash when writing/accessing data.
The upper-right is the USB2.0/1.1 jack. Just to the left is the breather hole (covered up by special tape which has "micro-holes" to prevent dust and other particles from entering the drive). If you've read the 2300U2 review, you will notice the breather hole on the 2300U2 is much more conspicuous (having a different breather construction altogether. This is because the drive rotates at much higher speeds, needing more air to circulate. On the 1300U2, you don't need such a hole for breathing.
1300U2 (Top & Bottom)
The top of the 1300U2 displays the Fujitsu MO model and you can see two distinct metallic-like strips on each side of the unit.
The underside of the 1300U2 has the same two side styles as the top of the drive. The rubber feet of the drive, are placed to the widest sides of the drive as possible, making sure the drive sits on a flat surface and doesn't move.
