HD Tach RW 3 tests the sequential read, random access, and interface burst speeds of attached storage devices. It is currently only available for Windows 2000 and XP users. Quite honestly, most PC users should be using at least XP Home Edition for the most reliable/stable OS Microsoft has released in order to get the full benefits of internal and external devices. If you need HD Tach for Windows 95, 98, ME and NT 4.0, there is HD Tach 2.7.
Non-Partioned "Quickbench" Results
The HD Tach RW 3 "Quickbench" results consist of 8MB chunks of testing. From the above graph, the Fujitsu MHV2080AH demonstrated the following:
- Average Read Speed of 18.7MB/s
- Average Write Speed of 13.6MB/s
- Burst Speed of 16.4MB/s
- Random Access of 19.1ms
- CPU Utilization of 4% (+/- 2%)
Non-Partioned "Longbench" Results
The HD Tach RW 3 "Longbench" results consist of 16MB chunks of testing. From the above graph, the Fujitsu MHV2080AH demonstrated the following:
- Average Read Speed of 18.7MB/s
- Average Write Speed of 13.6MB/s
- Burst Speed of 17.5MB/s
- Random Access of 19.1ms
- CPU Utilization of 4% (+/- 2%)
