IO Meter is another tool for taking a look at the inner-workings of a hard drive. Keep in mind, that IO Meter is very dependent on the types of tests you give it. It can give you misleading numbers if you're not careful. It's not that IO Meter is misleading, it's that the operator is. In my tests, I went from very small file sizes, to very large file sizes. From small time intervals, to larger time intervals.

IO Meter Results

I conducted several interval tests of various time lengths and file sizes using IO Meter. Why? Well, because this is a more rigorous exercise for the drive, and we get a picture of just how the drive performs over many different areas, and not just an "overall" performance rating.
