Audio
Iron Man comes with English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 (48kHz/16-bit) at 3493 Kbps or the basic English Dolby Digital 5.1 (and Spanish) at 640 Kbps. Once again, Dolby TrueHD shines over the inferior DD 5.1 track. Maybe in a drama where there were no effects and you didn't have objects whizzing around you from left to right and over your head, we'd probably have no reason to scream for the lossless soundtrack. However, we have so many action sequences going on, it's hands-down the soundtrack to play through your system if you can.

Content
This is going to be a classic in my collection. Iron Man manages to pull of what many other megamoviebusters have not. And that is...grabbing your attention for an extended period of time. Ever felt the need to get up and grab something to eat while in the middle of a scene on other movies? I have. But with Iron Man, I sat through the whole darn thing. In fact, I don't even remember needing to hit the refrigerator.
Iron Man doesn't require dozens of people dying horrific deaths to get the message across, over-shadowing the entire film altogether. What we have here is a methodic and tactful presentation, only using the extremes when necessary, and mostly having fun rather than trying to be over-serious.
The Extras
The extras on Iron Man are rather plentiful. You have over an hour of extras on the feature film disc, and over 2.5 hours on the second special features disc. So, about 3.5 hours or more in total.
Conclusion
Iron Man is one of those movies which should be in everyone's movie collection. It has everything. And with the addition of high-def video and sound, you can't go wrong.
Finally, I'm going to say this is a reference Blu-ray disc for audio and video. If you have the proper system to handle all the HD requirements of this movie, you will be impressed, as well as impress others. |
