Benchmarks of the GSA-5169D consist of using a test cd and test dvd created by Nero, and using a dual-layer DVD movie to test some "real world" numbers. While a test DVD is nice, I also would like to know how a drive fairs when placing a typical DVD movie into it.
Nero CD Speed Test Results
DigitalDingus used Nero's "Create Disc" utility and made a test cd. After creating the disc, the cd was ran three times to provide a more averaged and possibly more accurate benchmark. The test cd results can be viewed below in the respective table:

Nero DVD Speed Test Results
The DVD tests consisted of using a Nero-created DVD with data on it, and then running it three times to get a consistent result of the Access Times and Transfer Rates. The second part of this test, was to use an actual DVD movie for dual-layer benchmarks, and another DVD for single layer benchmarks.
